Henri Spronk

Henri Spronk is Professor of Biochemistry at Maastricht University and Interim Director of the Thrombosis Expertise Center (TEC) Maastricht. His research has advanced understanding of hypercoagulability in cardiovascular disease, and his translational research bridges basic science and clinical application, particularly in developing diagnostic tools for thrombin generation and platelet activation.

Constance Baaten

Constance Baaten works as a researcher within the group of Prof. Henri Spronk at the Department of Biochemistry at CARIM, Maastricht University and the group of Dr. Heidi Noels within the IMCAR institute, University Hospital Aachen. As part of the COVILOT study, she investigates how Long COVID affects the function of blood platelets and influences clot formation.

Senne Wijnen

Senne is opgegroeid in Zuid-Limburg en is altijd verbonden gebleven met de regio. Na het afronden van haar bachelor- en masteropleiding Biomedische Wetenschappen aan de Universiteit Maastricht, doet ze nu promotieonderzoek aan de Universiteit Maastricht en bij de GGD Zuid-Limburg. Met haar onderzoek hoopt Senne een positieve bijdrage te leveren aan de gezondheid en het welzijn van anderen.

Paola van der Meijden

Dr. Paola van der Meijden has more than 20 years of experience in comprehensive phenotyping of human platelets and investigating the interplay between platelets and coagulation. She is affiliated with the Maastricht Thrombosis Expertise Center and the Cardiovascular Research Institute Maastricht (CARIM), where her work focuses on developing and integrating diagnostic tools for thrombosis and hemostasis to improve patient care and disease management.

Martina Summer-Kutmon

Dr. Martina Summer-Kutmon is an Assistant Professor at the Maastricht Centre for Systems Biology and Bioinformatics, where she applies bioinformatics and systems biology approaches to study chronic diseases. Her expertise spans data analysis, computational modeling, network biology and data visualization, with a strong focus on reproducible research and open science initiatives.

Sander van Kuijk

Sander is associate professor of Clinical Epidemiology at the Maastricht University Medical Centre. His expertise is on clinical studies of diagnosis, prognosis, and interventions, and teaches Epidemiology at Maastricht University. Additionally, he is member of the Central Committee on Human Research.

Demi Pagen

Demi Pagen is sinds haar promotie in april 2025 werkzaam als postdoctoraal onderzoeker bij de GGD Zuid-Limburg en de Academische Werkplaats Publieke Gezondheid (AWPG) Mosa. Haar promotieonderzoek richtte zich op de acute en langdurige gevolgen van de COVID-19-pandemie, waaronder de post-COVID-19 conditie. Demi’s passie voor onderzoek wordt gevoed door de actualiteit van maatschappelijke thema’s waarmee ze daadwerkelijk iets kan betekenen voor de samenleving.
