Frequently Asked Questions

Who can participate in the study?

Adults (18+) who had a confirmed or suspected SARS-CoV-2 infection. We include both people with persistent Long COVID symptoms and those who recovered without long-term complaints.

I still have symptoms, but they’re mild. Can I join?

Yes, we are also including people with mild or moderate Long COVID symptoms in the cohort study, even if you don’t meet the criteria for severe Long COVID.

What if I cannot travel to the hospital because of my health condition?

No problem. If needed, we can arrange for blood and nasopharyngeal swabs collection at home to make participation easier for you.

What does the CT scan involve?

Only a small group of participants with severe Long COVID will be invited for a CT pulmonary angiography (CTPA) to assess lung blood flow. The scan involves low-dose radiation and a contrast fluid administered via a vein. You will be screened for eligibility and safety beforehand.

Will I receive the results of my tests?

The study is not designed to give personal medical advice. However, any unexpected and clinically relevant findings will be communicated to you and, if you agree, to your doctor.

Will I be paid for participating?

You won’t receive payment, but travel costs will be reimbursed.

What happens to my data and samples?

Your data and samples will be coded to protect your privacy. Only authorized study staff will have access. All information is handled in line with GDPR and research ethics regulations.

Can I withdraw at any time?

Yes, participation is completely voluntary. You can withdraw at any point without giving a reason and without any consequences for your healthcare.
